Night Night Mommy

Tonight was one of those nights that I hope I never forget.  I love being a mom because of nights like tonight.  I laid Shay down to sleep and it's sort of a tradition that I lay her on her tummy and she gets up on her hands and knees and looks back at me as I'm shutting the door with a big (almost toothless) grin.  The expression on her face would seem to translate to "I know where you are going Mom".  Then she lies her little head down and puts her thumb in her mouth and goes to sleep.

After I put Shay to bed I went into Lexie's room to put her to bed as well.  I changed her into her pajamas and we both sat on the bed to read her favorite book, There's an Animal Strike at the Zoo.  She loves to make all the animal sounds and turn the pages with me.  We read one more story, Guess How Much I Love You. Afterward I told her how much I loved her and told her it was time to go Night Night, as she likes to put it.  She laid down and I handed her her Bear and her Baby (which she calls her Mimi) and tucked her in.  I gave her a hug and a kiss and she gave me a kiss.  As I was turning off her light and closing her door she said "Night Night Mommy.  Thank You and Wuv You".  It made my heart melt.

I am so grateful for my daughters.  I love them so much.  I am so grateful for this time I have with them and I only hope to take advantage of it.  I hope to never forget how these little moments I share with them make me feel.
